Heh, how bout that mess? I'm pretty damn sure you want to know
what happened...
Heres the scoop...
I was working on some files and database related changes, and
befroe I done any of my "work", I backed up the
database before I did all the changes (including the phpbb2
install) and after the phpbb2 installation, I backed up the
database again (I named this database
"modified.sql") but something went wrong and I couldn't
find the problem. So I decided to load up the original but it was
gone... All I had was "modified.sql" database (which
only had the modifed tables, big mistake, I know) which wouldnt
run correctly for some reason. So I wiped all the files off the
server and decided to start from scratch. Since it was 5AM at
this time, I tossed up a temporary page (you might have seen it)
and went to bed to sleep on the problem. When I woke up I had the
task of immediately fixing the site. Since the modified database
had the users, stories, forums, tables, I hacked that data into a
backup from November, 19 and restored this database. So some of
the site has info as updated as last night and other parts only
has info from November, 19... The messed up part was is that the
whole thing was running fine on my local development server...
Weird.
I'm not sure entirely what the problem was, but it is now gone
and thank God for that... Thanks for holding in there with me. :) |
